Analyze Data and Tool

The digital world looks fun, but at the same time, it also becomes complicated when there is no solution to your problem.

This is a short story about the complexity of working in the digital industry and the most difficult problems due to the limited media available.

Work and Tools

Tools are a device or implement used to carry out a particular function, or in short, something that can make our work simpler.

The function of tools is to support activities that we can‘t do manually, a simple example is that we all use social media, right? one of them is Instagram, the most popular application used by many people today, not only as a medium for posting photos or videos but also as a tool to build personal branding even for commercial or e-commerce purposes. One of the best and most detailed app designs compared to some other social media apps I’ve tried, the feature I like the most is Insights (although sometimes it’s quite tiring due to the UI design that is often tweaked).

One of the jobs that I do every month of them is analyzing data, but lately my job has become a little difficult and confusing, guess why? because I have to analyze new data, but there are no tools that are capable enough to be able to display all the data I need.

Sample and The Data Insight

When you want to analyze your personal social media data such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or Twitter, you have the Insight feature, you can see your social media analytics, and you can easily make new strategies to increase awareness of your social media account, but what if the Insights feature don’t exist, and no other tools are capable to show the analytics data Insights from your account, what can you do?

Premium Subscribed -ZONK

I have tried several premium tools with the claim that they can do many things according to what I need, but in reality, when I become a member and subscribe for a fairly expensive price, the tool can’t work optimally and runs very slowly. The analytics tool can take up to 8 hours only to analyze one piece of data, it’s so long, and you can’t do anything because your laptop screen just shows that your search is being analyzed and will be completed in up to eight hours, or depending on the total data you search, even though that your deadline is only 2 days and you need to analyze more than hundred competitors with their specific data that needs to be analyzed one by one.

If you want to subscribe to premium tools and involve the sales team in your bidding process, please be careful if each of your questions is always answered “yes, you are able to get the data and more!” or “yes, you can track multiple data at one time”. Please make sure you really understand whether the plan you are going to buy includes the information that you need, and how long it takes to wait when the data contains all the information you need.

If you ask, “did you contact customer service before you subscribed?” the answer is, YES! I did. I even chatted not only through live chat but also via email, it took almost 1 month to really understand that the tool was working properly before I could provide payment, but you definitely know very well that one of the customer service jobs and the sales department team is to convince customers that what they are selling is really useful for us.

I’ve researched and studied a lot of data from various sources before finally deciding to try the tool, but from all the keywords I’ve tried, the companies that provide the service are limited, so far there are only 7 in the world (that’s all I can find) and only 4 tools that I feel “wort it to try” so there is no other choice to try all of them.

Beta Features

I also bought a tool that ended up not being used at all because the feature is still in Beta (Beta Features are a way for you to test new features on your platform and other app sites before they are released to everyone), which means the feature, platform or app isn’t perfect yet, not completely finished, the tool is definitely not optimal (but I still bought it lol).

If you are curious about some of the questions that are in your head after reading this, I will help to answer them.

Question:

  1. What tool did you use? I’m still using the last tool which took up to 8 hours.
  2. Are you going to switch to another tool? yes sure, if there is a platform that can provide it.
  3. How do you solve your problem? I use data estimation, I need to calculate it manually and it’s quite laborious, but it’s 60% accurate.
  4. Why don’t you fully use the manual method? because not all data can be solved manually.
